Innovations Against Poverty (IAP) Challenge Fund

Through SNV’s Innovations Against Poverty programme, Tetra is expanding access to safe, affordable drinking water in coastal Bangladesh by developing and restoring community-based water treatment systems. The project combines technical assessment, market analysis, and community engagement to identify locations with strong potential for sustainable service delivery. Selected systems may integrate Tetra’s IoT-enabled Water ATM technology to improve operational efficiency, transparency, and user access. Local operators are trained to manage day-to-day operations, while Tetra provides continued technical guidance and maintenance support. The initiative demonstrates a scalable, market-based approach to delivering reliable drinking water services for climate-vulnerable coastal communities.

Design, Establish and Operationalize One-Stop Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Service Centers (OSSCs)

Through BRAC’s Integrated Solutions for Safe and Sustainable Water Services in the Climate-Vulnerable Coastal Areas of Bangladesh project, Tetra is establishing five One-Stop Operation and Maintenance Service Centres across 16 upazilas in Khulna and Satkhira. The centres provide technical services, spare parts, water-quality testing, and maintenance support for coastal water systems. The project also includes restoring non-functional water treatment plants, strengthening digital monitoring and service-management systems, and developing skilled local service providers. By connecting water-system owners with dependable technical and supply-chain support, the initiative aims to improve the long-term functionality, sustainability, and local ownership of safe-water infrastructure. 

Y-RISE JOCREWSnet Project

Safe Water through Social Enterprise: A 16-Plant Pilot RCT of Community RO Services in Coastal Bangladesh

Tetra is collaborating with the Yale Research Initiative on Innovation & Scale (Y-RISE) to expand access to safe drinking water in climate-vulnerable coastal Bangladesh, funded by MIT JO-CREWSnet. The project combines large-scale household and market research with the development of 9 new community water treatment plants, using field data to identify high-need locations and understand local water demand. Through this collaboration, Tetra supports the translation of rigorous research into practical water infrastructure, helping test scalable, financially sustainable approaches for delivering reliable safe water to underserved communities.
